ENG 21001
I can say that when it comes to this class, I was able to be myself, be honest with what I felt when I read certain things in the class, and be able to just write passionately about what I wanted to write about. We went over many topics throughout the semester that were interesting, real, funny, honest, and new ways of having fun and having an interest in this English class. However, I feel that I grew an understanding in using print and digital technologies to address a range of audiences through 2 of my assignments that I’ve done in this class. Those being the research paper that everyone did of their choice and the Multi modal presentation. These platforms gave me the ability to go through topics that I really care about and had fun with what I wanted to say and what I felt was my truth.
The assignments of the research paper and presentation were to give us a chance to do something different from writing what we were doing in class. My topics were about LGBTQ+ Youth in the paper and LGBTQ+ Representation in Shows and Movies for the presentation. I was able to discover things that I hadn’t known for LGBTQ+ Youths of today and see what they had to go through but also got to find semi-primary/secondary sources for things that had happened during the HIV/AIDS Pandemic as well as draw people into the presentation I had and expplain how there could be more representation for people like myself and others who might not feel that they see themselves in productions. It truly was an honor to be in this class and learn so much. I’m eternally grateful to have taken it and be able to be fully invested in the beauty of reading, writing and passion for making something ourselves.
